May 21,  · The Trio: Shame. May 21, by Ashley No Comments. Oh Shame. Have I given you my crown? Do I hide in the shadows with you? Do I shrink back from my King as He holds out His hand leading me to step out for everyone to see that I’m royal? This is Shame. Do you relate? Are you in the shadows with me?

Joel RL Phelps & the Downer Trio – “Customs” CD 11/ Former Silkworm member Phelps has carved out a deep socket groove with his solo material since departing from the ‘worm in ’ His rugged, watery baritone sets him apart from the neo-rock lightweights out there who think rockin’ is about overstatements and dressing up in reverb.

Bought this CD on that back of Shame's appearance on Jools Holland. In summary, a great CD showcasing the talent and energy of this young band. 2 obvious stand out tracks are Concrete and One Rizla but there are 4/5 other great tracks. A band worth seeing live without a doubt! Read more/5(57).

Joel RL Phelps is a songwriter originally from Montana and was part of the indie rock band Silkworm. He left that band in and since has recorded his own material. He recorded his first non-Silkworm album in in Seattle with members of other bands such as Jessamine, Citizens' Utilities, Engine Kid, and the Deflowers assisting. The following records pared down the members to a trio Full-lengths: L'ajre (), In The West (), .

Phelps' lyricism and uncomplicated rhythms sculpt a personal restraint - less is more. The sweet sounding "Who Can I Burn" is crisp and clear in it's delivery accented heartbreakingly by Phelps unique vocals (held in check till we get to the aggressive shrill of "Fifty"); pedal steel guitar and solitary acoustic "americana" guitar strum.
